It is a wise move that the beautiful Asics Gel DS Trainer 25 focuses on a spectacular design while improving small things to give better performance. If it is already one of the favorite mixed running shoes in the Spanish market, with a modern and aggressive look it can conquer those who have yet to fall for it. Possibly the biggest competition will be found in-house with the revival of the eye-catching Gel Noosa Tri 12.
The minor changes from its predecessor Gel DS Trainer 24 take place in the upper, highlighting the presence of a plastic buttress at the rear very well integrated into the shoe and offering improved heel support for greater stability. The fabric is still knitted (knit), relatively stretchy to fit well and with a good breathability, helped by the classic design of the stripes that cross of the Japanese brand to give a consistency to the whole. Note that the tongue appears to have been trimmed in both length and thickness.
The rest of the Asics Gel DS Trainer 25 barely changes, maintaining a midsole mostly made of FlyteFoam Lyte™ and featuring both the classic Gel® pad in the rear for increased comfort and a firmer density wedge on the inner side (DuoMax®) that provides progressive correction to moderate pronation. The outsole is also kept intact leaving the midfoot plastic piece (Trusstic®) visible which provides rigidity to the assembly and improves response. The areas most exposed to wear incorporate a more robust rubber (AHAR) to increase durability.
