The reliable Asics GT 1000 6 is again not as popular as the premium Gel Kayano 24 or the respectable GT 2000 5 within running shoe with pronation support listing from Asics, but using rock solid technologies already familiar to regular runners and lower price tag make the GT 1000 6 a very interesting option for daily training and long distances up to marathon.
There are few changes compared to its predecessor GT 1000 5 and all of them take place in the upper. The soft and breathable mesh includes several holes from different sizes to increase ventilation and it is very similar to the successful fabric FlyKnit from Nike or PrimeKnit from Adidas. Reinforcements and classical Asics logo are sewed instead of fused building a consistent structure that provides snug fit. Following trend from innovative MetaRun, lower collar height provides more freedom around Achilles area.
Both midsole and outsole from GT 1000 6 remain untouched. In a typical configuration from the japanese brand, midsole is based on reliable SpEVA® with well-known GEL® unit in the rearfoot visible from outside to enhance comfort, something specially appreciated by heel strikers. Regarding progressive pronation control there is the typical dual density (DuoMax®) together with plastic piece in the midsole (Trusstic System®) featuring extra stiffness for great stability. There are deep flex grooves (including classic Guidance Line) for increased flexibility to promote smoother transitions and as usual in other Asics running shoes, robust rubber AHAR+ is located in more exposed areas to increase durability.
